ABOUT THE TEAM

1991

The Tri-Check post collegiate women's lacrosse team was founded by Dana Crompton in the fall of 1991 after her return to California from graduate school at the U of Minnesota, where she had started their first women's lacrosse team.  With a love for the game and a need to play, Dana enlisted her friend as co-founder, Terry Parker, to help build the team.  Terry was a lacrosse player at Cal State Long Beach where she also played field hockey.  Terry helped recruit lacrosse players from the membership of the Los Angeles Field Hockey Association (LAFHA), many of whom also played lacrosse in college.  Tri-Check did not have a home field, it did not run practices, and had no money.  The team just played games with local college club teams, because there were zero high school teams in Southern California (Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Orange County and Inland Empire areas) at that time.

The name "Tri-Check" came from Terry's ability to check so hard that the ball would be dislodged within three strikes!  With wooden sticks, that was a big deal back then!
